Our History

M.B. Asistio Sr. High School - Unit I as an annex of the Main school was founded in 1990. It occupied an existing one-storey 16-classroom building donated by the National Housing Authority (NHA) to the Department of Education,      Culture and Sports (DECS) under a deed of transfer dated August 10, 1990.

On its first year, there were twelve (12) permanent teachers who volunteered to be assigned in the annex. For three (3) school years, graduating students joined the graduation rites at the main school. Students who were vying for honors were encouraged to transfer to the main on their third year to compete with other      students. However, despite efforts of both teachers and parents to convince them to transfer these   students remained in the annex. It would seem that they were enjoying their studies in the annex school. It was on its fourth year that            M.B. Asistio Sr. High School Unit-1 had its first separate graduation exercises.

To oversee the operation of the annex, a department head was being assigned by the school principal. The following department heads were designated locally as Officer-In-Charge:

  1. Mr. Jaime Rempillo, THE Department Head

  2. Mrs. Emelia Cerceda, Science Department Head

  3. Miss Lucita Magno, English Department Head

After this local designation from the Principal, the Schools Division Superintendent decided that an Officer-In-Charge be designated for close supervision.   Mrs. Leonora Soberano was the first Department Head from Baesa High School who was assigned as Officer-In-Charge, followed by Miss Helen Grace Go,  a Science Department Head from  M.B. Asistio Sr. High School Main.

In 2006, Mrs. Teodora Madelyn V. Ilagan was designated as the first principal of the school. During her administration, MB Asistio Sr. High School Annex was recognized as an independent institution. Then, Mr. Tirso R. Dela Cruz took over in 2011. Through his leadership, the school was known and recognized as NCR’s Top winner in Brigada Eskwela for two consecutive years.

To date, Mr. Luisito C. Orma as the school head, prepares varied intervention programs for the school improvement and for the student and curriculum development. With his dedication and commitment to the school’s vision and mission, he has been acknowledged as the Best Brigada Eskwela Implementer. Thus, the school received the Hall of Fame Award after winning on its third year.

The original school buildings were already demolished. There are at present    3-storey buildings which accommodate 2,178 students divided into 33 classes, and taken cared of by 50 classroom teachers. It has provided ancillary services to cater to the growing needs of both faculty and  students. Because of its absorptive        capacity of more than 2,000 students, the school was selected to be the only Senior High School in AROMAR area.

At present, four 4-storey buildings with 72 classrooms have been constructed for the incoming Grades 11 and 12 students to occupy. As the school develops and             advances, the administration, teachers and staff together with whole community, shall continuously aspire for an excellent academic program that is exceptional and relevant to the needs of all students.
